I was thinking the other day, re your comment on the "American Taliban", that the conservative christians are the ones Americans should be fearing more than any Islamic terrorist.
Last week the Pope called for Christians worldwide to fight secularism wherever it occurs, and strive towards enshrining Christian values in law. With so many radical Christian groups taking such a call literally (with firebombs and shootings, ie terrorism) and no effort made to rein them in by the hierarchy of *any* Christian church, then this is a call for nothing less than a Christian jihad.
As far as immediate threats to democracy and freedom in Western countries goes, the Pope is a far greater threat than Osama bin Laden.
