83 out of 100 questions right, and I'm not even completely awake and my drugs haven't hit yet. Got all the hard ones, too.

MTV was the teat I sucked all through high school. Fortunately I also raided the import vinyl bin at Mirabelli's and had a friend who introduced me to the Cure when everyone else was listening to Madonna and/or hair bands. Oh, and when I was working at the local Top 40 station (KWNZ) the program director let me have all the demos that were too "edgy" for them to play. So I have an assload of singles from Jane Siberry, Feargal Sharkey, Hipsway, Everything But The Girl, the Housemartins, etc. According to my peers, I was seriously uncool at the time because I wasn't into either country or metal, but now, looking back on it, I guess I really was pretty damned cool then. Too cool for Reno, obviously. I'm slowly replacing all my vinyl and cassettes with CDs, but some of that stuff just can't be found. The Other Ones, Pseudo Echo, Game Theory, Gene Love Jezebel, etc. I can find a few compilations, but not the original albums. Sigh.. I'm lucky that I found the Time-Life Modern Rock collection, and the Living In Oblivion series because they have a lot of weird, obscure stuf on them (Heaven 17, Ultravox, etc.) but I'm still mourning the loss of some of the full albums.

If anyone happens to ever run across-- even if it's vinyl-- a set called Enigma Variations from (I think) 1984 or 85, please PLEASE send it to me. It's basically a sampler of a bunch of bands that were on Enigma records at the time. I have a really horrid taped version of it which is all but disintegrated right now, and I'm dying to get some of those tracks again. It had stuff like Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper singing "Elvis is Everywhere" and an all-girl punk band called the Screamin Sirens with a song which was waaaaaayy ahead of its time called "You Make me a Maniac." It also had the classic Dead Milkmen song "Bitchin Camaro." ("my favorite cover band, Crystal Shit")

Gah. Pardon me while I die of nostalgia.

You're the only other person I "know" who has ever heard of Feargal Sharkey (in the US that is). Wow. I adore his voice...used to have one of his albums on vinyl but now it's lost *sobs*

I think they have his music at amazon.com. I'm slowly replacing my vinyl too.

Gene Loves Jezebel! (If there is a god in heaven I'm sure that band will burn in hell). I'll keep me eyes peel this end for Pseudo Echo CDs...and I hope you appreciate the damage to my reputation if I get seen buying one ;).
