Well said. It's especially ridiculous when they want to force the rest of us to live by their rules, even if we don't believe in their imaginary friend.
There are so many Catholics who don't agree with the Vatican but they won't leave the Church and I can't understand it. That's what I had a big rant about today: by staying they're giving support to a church that actively works against their interests.
You have an excellent point. For me personally, I just can't see abandonning my faith all together. I was born and raised Episcopalian, but converted to Catholicism as a pre-teen. As most Catholics do, I've gone thru that phase where you struggle with trying to justify your modern world with what Church teachings are. Most people do just what you said and stick with the Church in spite of their own modern beliefs (ie gays aren't bad, abortion doesn't damn you to hell, etc.) I'd reached a point of apathy with the Church for other very personal reasons having to do with all the molestation cases. I thought about going back.
After seeing your post today, I don't think I'll be going back to that fold, because, like you said, they're working against me and beliefs I totally do not understand. Time for me to put my money where my mouth is, so to speak.
the catholic church is so ridiculous. they're in this fantasy bubble. in reality, it's better for a child to have gay parents than no parents at all. fuckers.
what the fuck ever happened to seperation of church and state anyway? so much for land of the fucking free. free to do what you want, as long as its what they want too. and what a big surprise! a sub article on how bush agrees with everything they have to say! isnt it great the way we have a nazi in office? the whole thing makes me one hundred percent irate. i swear on everything holy, that i will never ever partake in a legal marriage until the day my brother can marry a man.
