Alright, I know some of you out there can help me out on this.

I have this Big Idea...

Last year's charity premiere of TTT in Seattle was way cool, and I've been thinking, if there isn't anything else like that already set up, that I'd like to try to put one together for ROTK.

Plan:
Rent out a theater, preferably Cinerama, but any large, modern theater would do.
Make arrangements for profits to go to a few different charities: Lifelong AIDS Alliance, Lambert House, etc. And the Chorus, too.
Try to get an appearance by one of the cast-- maybe Ian? to say a few words before the show.
Hold a pre-show reception somewhere nice, for an additional donation.

I'm willing to foot the bill for the initial cash outlay for this project. All I need is to make sure that the venues are available, that New Line would go for it, and that the charities to benefit would be interested.

I've just sent mail to Cinerama inquiring about the availability, so there's that. But any info anyone else has about putting together something like this would be fabulous.

How large of a theatre do you need? Joe and I have talked about how cool it'd be to hold a party of sorts at The Big Picture (http://www.thebigpicture.net), the theatre below El Gaucho. It's surprisingly inexpensive and very swanky. Might be just what you're looking for.

The big picture would be very very cool, albeit small. The only problem with it, is that you would have to secure rights to show it at an independant theatre, and have to get a copy of it on DVD or DV, since they don't have a 35mm film projector, or a cinerama style modern digital projector.

No way to offset the cost of doing it with only 110 seats too.

Ahh, good point. I hadn't really thought of such details. And, I did just look to see it only seats about 125, which is probably too small for what Shawna is thinking.

But, I still say we need to find a time/way to throw a party there in the not too distant future.

Something that *might* work for that venue is a special showing of the TTT Extended Edition. If they have the facilities for digital/dvd projection and sound.

That would be the perfect thing to do there, it's a really REALLY nice space, excellent theatre, better than some of the small "normal" theatres around here. www.thebigpicture.net has info on the space.
