It's getting to be that time

I think we may be losing Punky.
It's not really unexpected. He's 17, and has been declining for a long time, but up until the last few days, he's been bright and perky. Not so much now. He's lost a lot more weight, he's not very active, is favoring his hind end and doesn't seem to eat or drink much. He's also been making some pathetic little noises, too. He's also having bathroom issues--more than the usual ones. I suppose he may just be a little constipated or something, but given what we know about his kidney and thyroid issues, I'm guessing this is just the last stages of that. Kitty Bob had similar behavior in her last few weeks.
I'm planning to call the vet Monday if he's still acting like this then. If he's in pain, I don't want him to keep suffering.
