M and I own very large quantities of books and various sorts of collectibles.

It is becoming apparent that the only reason we have a house is so we have places to put them all. We use maybe 40% of it as living space. The rest of it is various forms of storage and display.

I haven't yet decided whether this is something that should embarass me or make me proud.

One of the main reasons we bought the house we did was the incredible number of built in bookshelves. Which I've now filled. Half Price books has been helping me turn the ones I can bear to get rid of into something nice though...which I immediately turn around and use to buy new stuff. Maybe that's not that smart after all....

(The other reason we bought the house? I stood in the middle of the living room, where we now have the piano, and belted out some Mozart to be sure the resonances were good. There was a phenomenal ring, and that's the other reason we bought it.)

We're not big on collectibles, but I have to admit that a good 25% of our attraction to this house was the fact that we could have a large room dedicated specifically as a library, to house our books. Yeah, we have chairs to sit in there, and our best stereo system in case we want music, but the main room on our first floor is otherwise entirely devoted to books.

And we still have to double-row them!

You think this makes you special? Have you looked at your friends list lately? :-) We all live like this, honey. Be a geek and be proud!

AHahaha... True. I've seen [livejournal.com profile] ironymaiden's place, which frankly impresses me.

I need to get you over here. Yeah, we need to spend a little more time together. I've been thinking of having a holiday open house at some point. Perhaps that will be an opportunity.

Heh, yeah. I just put together a laundry basket's worth of books to sell or donate, and it's not really affecting the situation much. Now if I could figure out what to do with the textbooks I could really make a dent...
