At (bank), the security of your accounts is a top priority. Recently, we learned that a card skimming device was illegally attached to the (main branch ATM), sometime between December 8, 2007, and January 19, 2008.

We have been investigating and closely monitoring the situation to identify members who may have been affected by this illegal activity. Based on our investigation, we have identified that you used (this ATM) during the identified timeframe and your card information may have been compromised.

For your protection, we will block your current card on Tuesday, February 5. You will receive a new card within 7 business days and a new PIN shortly thereafter. We understand that blocking your card may cause you some inconvenience, but the protection of your accounts is our utmost priority.

Also, I appear to be having the sequel of the tonsillitis I had a few months ago. Or at least something similar. At the moment, it's affecting my larynx, so I sound weird. I'm hoping it goes away quickly. I would like to have a real weekend during which I felt well enough to enjoy it.

Not, of course, that enjoying it would include actually using my bank account, apparently.

You play with words for a living...well ok, communication. So....you shouldn't have any trouble whacking together a return letter that goes something like this:
Dear (craptastic bank);
Thank you for the concern you expressed regarding the security my account at your bank. While the security of my funds is important to me, it is also important that I have ready access to these funds. As you are no longer able to provide either the security or the easy access, I am afraid that our association is at an end and I will be moving to a bank that provides both aspects of basic customer service.

So There!

I was sorely tempted, indeed. However, it's actually a credit union, and we've been with them for about 12 years. This is the first time we've ever had any problems with them. The branch in question is just a few blocks down the road from The Company, and it serves a lot of employees. I think everyone was really quite shocked to have something like this happen out in the burbs, to a credit union (rather than a large bank chain.) It's frustrating to be without my card, but I understand why they have to do it. It's just definitely not something I needed to have happen on top of every other dreadful thing this week.

Same thing happened to me. I am currently awaiting a PIN number so I can access my funds without a check. Grr. >:(

Hey by the way. Is tomorrow night (sat) still a go? Sounds like you are sick? Just checking in. Hugs

Hey babe. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take a rain check on tonight. I was hoping that a good night's sleep would fix me up, but intstead I woke up feeling even worse.

We'll get together soon, though. I miss you!
