M and I aren't visiting the parentals this year, and don't otherwise have plans, so we decided it's time to host.

So if any of y'all locals or semi-locals don't have plans, you're quite welcome at our place in Mill Creek. I've been told I cook well, and since I've fallen off the veg wagon, I can do the turkey thing, too--a la Sir Alton of Brown, if M has his way. I also cook up a mean Tofurkey, too, for those still eschewing dead bird.

We also have a ton of games and may do a marathon of something from our DVD collection, which includes all seasons of Lost, BSG and GA, plus a bunch of movies. The bar is fully stocked and I also make some great mocktails for those who don't indulge. If it's not raining, we may even fire up the hot tub, so bring your swimsuit! Also, if you're coming from afar, we have some crash space if you want to stay overnight. But be aware that you'll probably become cat furniture.

It's been ages since we've had a party, so we're way overdue. We'd love to see you. Feel free to bring partners, kidlets or random relatives--just let us know in advance how many you're bringing so we can plan for food amounts. Bear in mind that we have four cats, if anyone's allergic, and this is an openly queer household, if anyone gets nervous about such things.

Send me mail or comment here with your e-mail (if it's not on your info) and I'll add you to an Evite with all the details.

We've got local plans, sadly. But otherwise we'd be there.

I can definitely recommend Alton Brown's brined turkey recipe! We tried it last year and it was flat out the best turkey any of us had ever eaten. Of course, what also helped is the other thing I'd recommend: get a free-range turkey. They sell them at Trader Joe's, PCC and Whole Foods (also at Larry's Market, if you happen to still have one nearby). It really does make a difference.

Dammit. That sounds like a good time, but I'm already determined to host Thanksgiving myself. Next time, perhaps.

Sounds like fun, but If I skip out early on another family Turkey Day my mom'll kill me. Thanks for the invite, though! :)
