Weeding

Thanks to many folks hauling stuff downstairs (and out of the house entirely, in some cases!) just about everything is out of the house, now. There are a couple of large items still upstairs (1 small desk, 1 large one, the old mattress set and the exercise bike) and several small things on various surfaces, but those should all make it at least down to the garage some time tomorrow. We've had a few bites on a by-appointment garage sale dealio, and whatever's left over after that will be hauled away Tuesday by a charity truck and Got Junk.

This means it's finally time to start with the actual spiffing! Woot! This is going to be a much shorter project than the mucking out, and most of it will be taken care of by pros. Carpet's coming out Tuesday; paint, bathroom tile, hardwood refinishing and a few other things will happen during the rest of that week, and then new carpet and trim will be going in on the 3rd. With luck, the only thing left after that will be a good professional scrubbing.

I've already sent mail to the Redfin.com agent we'll be working with. Will be interesting to see what he has to say about what more we should do with the place before we list it, and whether we should hire stagers or leave the place empty or whatever.

Gah... This is all really starting to feel like it's for real, now! We're on the road to divesting ourselves of the place! Eek!

The somewhat depressing bit, though, is realizing it's really going to be hard to find a place in Kirkland or Newcastle, mostly because just about everything in those neighborhoods was built between 1965-1990. The few newer-construction places there are well out of our price range, and I just don't trust that the wiring in the older ones will be able to keep up with our needs. So we're probably going to be stuck with Renton or Kenmore. Meh. Still, it's better than being out in BFE: Northern Edition, since it will take considerably less bribing to get people to visit. ;)
