Tired, but some accomplishment!
Thanks in large part to some great helpers, we got a lot done at the house today. On paper, it doesn't sound like much--About 80% of the books, most of the CDs & DVDs and a good portion of what was left in the kitchen--but considering the sheer amount of said things, it really was quite a lot.
We go back again tomorrow--just the two of us this time--and start working more on some other stuff. We were originally planning on going room-by-room (and that's sort of happening), but it's become clear that it's just easier to go for the easily packed stuff first.
We probably have another week or so of steadily working on this to get at least the downstairs ready to go. The upstairs might take another week. The storage pod arrives on Friday, so I'm hoping that at least all of the rooms with furniture that will be stored will be done by then.
I've decided that I want to try to have this portion of the project--dealing with the old house--done by my birthday, so we can commit to a loan on the new place. Assuming, of course, that financing will go through, which depends almost entirely on the appraisal.
I still have this little voice in the back of my head that says this whole idea is crazy and I should seek a mental health professional, but it feels like things are (mostly) working out so far, so... Gah.
