So, back home again for a day or so, since I don't have anything going on tomorrow and we're going to be at the apartment working on getting my other machine up and running this weekend. I wanted to see my kitties and spend some time with Mikey and watch Lost and House and our other recorded shtuff.

Classes are going well. The history class is sooo right up my alley. I barely even have to take notes because the material itself is so interesting to me I'm retaining it. I'm catching on quickly in the newswriting course, too, and I asked the instructor (much to his amusement) if I could work ahead a little, so I can make sure I'm up to snuff when doing stuff for the paper.

That part seems to be smoothing out somewhat. I'm getting more clear on how procedures and such work, and I now have two stories assigned so I'll be working on those over the next several days. Fortunately, both are in areas of expertise, so I'll be able to come up with something decent, I think. Still worried about getting all of my points, but I'm at least trying, and I'm fighting to not let this get the best of me.

The apartment has been a little lonely. I'm so used to at least having cats around that it's weird that I'm the only one there. Especially with no net access yet and little social interaction in class, I really feel like I'm rattling around. Doesn't help that I'm still waiting for some furniture and stuff, so I'm eating dinner sitting on a folded-up comforter on the living room floor, laptop propped up on empty boxes and playing solitare. How pathetic is that? Gah. At least I've more or less worked out transportation, which helps a lot. Knowing I can get around is important, what with my semi-limited mobility.

Looking forward to two nights in an already broken-in bed. The new one is nice, but it's still a bit stiff, so I'm finding my weight shifting a little toward my head, which causes a stiff neck in the morning because I'm always stretching my head away so I don't get smothered by my boobs. Yeah, I know that was TMI. Deal.

I saw Everything is Illuminated over the weekend. Was impressed, but I could see flaws, too. It's definitely worth a watch.
