Biding time
Waiting for my sudafed to kick in so I can go to bed, so I gacked this here
1. Do you have a real or fake Christmas tree?
Neither, at the moment, save a small rosemary bush that M's family gave us. Normally I prefer real, though. The smell is just impossible to achieve any other way.
2. Do you put up Christmas lights on the exterior of your home?
I have, but not recently. Ladders and I don't get along and I always leave them up until March, so it gets tacky.
3. What's your favorite Christmas song/carol?
I've sung so many of them in various concerts... hard to pick just one. I tend to like the pretty lullaby types, though. "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" or "O Little Town of Bethlehem."
Odd, I know, since I'm about 99% atheist, but I really love a lot of religious music. Religious fervor makes for damned good art.
4. What do you like better. turkey or ham?
Tofurkey.
I used to make a Christmas quiche every year. How's that for weird?
5. Do you open up any Christmas presents on Christmas Eve?
I used to do one, with my parents.
6. Have you ever been Christmas caroling?
A couple of times.
7. What was your most memorable Christmas gift(s) that you received?
The dagger M got me a few years ago. Totally a surprise and I loved it. It's hanging in my office right now.
8. What's your favorite Christmas movie?
Movie? I can't say I have one. Although I do kind of like "Love, Actually."
9. Have you ever built a real snowman?
Yep. Such is life from November through February when you grow up at 4,500 feet elevation.
10. Have you ever peeked into a present and found out what it was before Christmas?
Yes. I sometimes sneaked into the living room at night and carefully peeled tape back.
11. What is on the top of your Christmas tree?
A big aluminum snowflake.
12. Do you own a Santa hat?
I think I have a reindeer antlers headband, does that count?
13. When was the last time you had your picture taken with Santa Claus?
Egad. 6? 5?
14. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?
Barely. I have a ton more to do.
15. Do you put candy canes on your Christmas tree?
Sometimes. I never eat them, though.
16. Who is hardest person to buy for?
The guy I live with. He has a very narrow range of stuff he really, really wants and I never have the faintest clue about the details of it. Various computer parts, whatever book series he's reading this week, some gadget or other... if I ever tried buying something he'd really be delighted by, I'd get it wrong. So he gets stuck with clothes and chocolate.
17. Who is the easiest person to buy for?
Any girly girls on my lists. I can buy jewelry and cute knickknacks for days.
18. How old were you when you realized Santa was imaginary?
Third grade-ish? I remember getting in trouble in school for telling the other kids Santa was their parents.
19. What does your morning of Christmas routine consist of?
Stockings over hot cocoa, then gifts, one by one.
20. Egg nog?
Properly made, yes. I love the hot kind, too.
21. What do you want for Christmas this year?
An indictment for Karl Rove. Good box office for Brokeback Mountain. A donation to Paws, the Pride Foundation or Lambda House. Someone to clean my shower. More vacation time. A job offer before I've even done my internship. A pill to cure my illness. A sudden change of heart for all the selfish bastards who value money over people.
