My heart goes pitter-patter whenever the UPS truck comes down the street because I KNOW it's for MEEEEE.

Yes! Don't you love that? I just got a package from
the UPS man today, too! I ordered some shoes and
fishnets [hee!] in hopes to wear them for Iolanthe.
The shoes are the wrong color though. Bleh. C'est
la vie.

So what do you think we should do about wings? I
feel like a slacker at this point. I'm all about paying
someone else to make them. Heh.

I haven't the faintest foggiest about the wings. Who was it that was suggesting we do something different? And yeah, I'm all about paying someone else to do it. I just don't have those skills.

What's the scoop with the wands, too? Haven't figured that one out yet.

I was just really not feeling like a craftywench at retreat
and was all about sitting out on the wing making process. So
when Julie and Llyra said they were making theirs later and
going with a different design, I jumped on that wagon. Maybe
we could find some somewhere that stick with our initial plan
of the good/bad faerie. [assuming you still wanted to do that?]
I did find some online that I liked but I know we have to keep
them kind of small still since we have to move around the stage
easily, not to mention they have to be smaller than Iolanthe's
and Queen Julie's.

For wands, I think we're just supposed to use whatever we want
as long as it's 8" or under. I'm not sure if anyone has really
touched on that subject in detail. So maybe when we figure out
wings, we could take care of wands to boot.

The wing site I was looking at is here. They're definitely more
than $10, however.

Julie sent me a wing-making site (http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk/Sewing_Projects/Fairy-Wings/fairy_wings.htm) which is pretty close to the style that she and I are thinking of. Hers will be majestic, of course, as befits the queen. Mine are going to be smaller than pictured, and more droopy. They look fairly easy to make, and, speaking as someone who's made wings before, this looks like a pretty good and stable design for our needs.

Yeah! I have that site bookmarked as well. I did a google
search the other day and spent almost all day looking at
different wing designs and structures. I was thinking this
one was a pretty good match as well. I'm also wondering how
we could make sure they stayed in place since we never have
to remove ours. Dmitri mentioned actually sewing his on to
his costume. I'd just hate to be twirling or tripping hither
and have my wings fall off. Heh.

oh, you just make little elastic or webbing straps, like a backpack. Depending on your outfit and the wings, you may even be able to wear the wings underneath your shirt/dress/etc, which makes things look more even.

Hmm, so like, maybe there'd be a time we could all
get together to make these? I feel I need a bit of
guidance lest I come out looking like the 'special'
faerie. Hey, I wonder if I could make mine out of
fishnet. That might be kind of cool. I just got a
pair of red/black fishnets from Torrid and they had
a hole in them when they got here. I was going to
return them but if I could find another use for 'em
that would be great.

Sure, the problem is with scheduling, though. Julie and I don't really have much of an intersection of free time this weekend, but if either of you guys wanted to work on stuff Sunday after rehearsal, I'm free.

With fishnets, you could easily do the dragonfly-type wings (long, narrow wire frame, then stretch nylons (or in this case, fishnets) over them).

I wonder if Shawna's sick of us babbling about this in her journal? Maybe we should take it to email (mailto:journal@coyotegirl.com)...

Sunday after rehearsal would be fine, but I do have to warn that I'm totally inept at this and will likely simply pawn it off on someone who actually likes doing it.

From: [identity profile] coyotegirl.livejournal.com
Which is fine, actually. You'll just need to be there to pick out the fabric you want for your wings and pay for it and get fitted. And then entertain people while they work. Sound ok?

schweet!

You're going to be at the extra rehearsal on Sunday, right?

This'll work out so nicely.

I hear you there. I'm running into some serious
scheduling roadblocks, myself. This weekend is
no exception.

Sunday would probably work though. Maybe I can
rope Joe into helping, too, since he seemed to
enjoy himself [maybe a bit too much. O.o] at the
retreat wing-making workshop.

As for taking it to email, that's fine. I just thought
we'd keep it here since it involves her. I'm cool with
whatever.

coolness. Do you have a sewing machine, cutie? If not, then we should probably converge on my place, because I have one, and we'll need one. Plus, I live 3 blocks away from a fabric store. :)
Date: 2003-02-07 11:09 pm (UTC)

From: [identity profile] carrieann.livejournal.com
I wish I did. Though I don't know how to sew so
that wouldn't do much good. It would be better
to converge at your place anyway. Ours is overrun
with misc. car parts at present since Joe is taking
the Porsche apart still and has decided to make the
living room car part central. Heh.

Will the fabric store be open by the time we're done
with rehearsal on Sunday? I hope I hope!
