1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Ehm. Nothing significant, I'm afraid. A few technical things-- learning new HTML tricks.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I made any. I tend to not do well when I set unrealistic goals for myself.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Close? No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes

5. What countries did you visit?
I didn't leave the US, actually. Didn't even make it to Canada. I did, however, go to New York, LA (twice), Denver, San Diego and Maui. Plus a few trips to Portland.

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
Energy

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
February 29th. The day that geeks ruled the Oscars.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Working on getting my health back on track by getting properly diagnosed and medicated.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not shutting my piehole a hundred times that I should have. Failing to get the chorus to get on-board with my plans for making it successful. Losing some friends.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just the usual.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Tickets to the Return of the One Party

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Aside from the entire cast and crew of the The Best Movies Evah....

Kerry, for standing firm in the face of ridiculous smears, and for vowing to continue to fight even after the election.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
The entire Republican party and anyone who voted for them knowing about the human rights violations they were engaging in.

People in general who care more about money, status, power or other pointless shit than ensuring that other people have their basic needs and rights.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Aside from mortgage payments... Ehm. travel And landscaping. Which was definitely worth it.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The Oscars.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
Into the West

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? At the moment, happier. We'll see if that lasts. I'm emotionally exhausted, though. It's been a really rough roller-coaster year on a lot of fronts. It's finally clearing up, but I wouldn't repeat this year for all the chocolate in the world. Very hard to handle on multiple fronts. Politics, fandom, family, health, friendships, the chorus.... all were in pretty disastrous states most of the year. I feel like I've been through a garbage disposal.

ii. thinner or fatter? About the same. My weight gain is down to a pound or two a year, if that, which is a major improvement overall.

iii. richer or poorer? Richer, to a degree. Unless you count stock value.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Face to face socializing, shopping, singing

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Pointless flamewars

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Sleeping and playing video games

22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Not as such. Didn't fall out of it, though.

23. How many one-night stands?
None. Haven't had sex with anyone besides Mike in about five years.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
LOST, natch.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yes. A few people I thought were friends who stabbed me and others I care about in the back in order to suck up to someone else, or out of their own sheer nastiness or self-centeredness.

26. What was the best book you read?
Lucky

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Keane

28. What did you want and get?
Gadgets, software, travel, love from my darling dear, loyalty from several cherished friends, help with some things.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
33, and I honestly don't remember.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less petty bullshit gnawing at my ankles.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Don't leave the house naked

34. What kept you sane?
The same things that always keep me sane: my husband, our roomie, some dear and lovely friends and our cats.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I give a slight edge to Dom over Elijah.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The whole same-sex marriage debacle, and the fucked up election.

37. Who did you miss?
Johnny Cash, Ray Charles and some friends I've lost touch with.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Did I meet anyone new? Online, I think I may have. In person, I finally met the lovely [livejournal.com profile] piccalo who is just as sunny and bubbly and delightful to be around in person as she is online.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
Make 'em think it's their idea. And booze is really good for killing cramps.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Several:

WWS: Everything we never meant to say
When the world is getting small
Our solution is to build a bigger stronger wall
But once you’re locked inside
You’ll never get out again

Keane: Everybody's changing
So little time
Try to understand that I'm
Trying to make a move just to stay in the game
I try to stay awake and remember my name
But everybody's changing
And I don't feel the same

til tuesday: On Sunday
So your pain becomes another souvenir
and your souvenirs become your world

Genesis: Man on the Corner:

Looking everywhere at no one,
He sees everything and nothing at all - oh.
When he shouts nobody listens,
Where he leads no one will go - oh.

He’s a lonely man, there on the corner,
What he’s waiting for, I don’t know,
But he waits everyday now.
And he’s just waiting for something to show - oh.

Pink: Don't Let me Get Me

Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

I may revise/add to this later. This is what crossed my mind.
