So, I must've come into contact with something truly hideous yesterday, because early last evening, I had this sudden, horrible allergy-like thing happen. The back of my throat felt like someone had poured acid down it and everything swelled up and itched and I had a hard time breathing. I slept fitfully the whole night, trying out various spots around the house to see if I could get comfortable. I think I also went through several fevers. Now it seems to have descended into my lungs and I woke up coughing up chunks.
Very unlike a normal cold, which I can feel coming on for a day or so, and gradually starts making my throat itchy. This was totally out of the blue. At 4p, I was fine, by 6p I wanted to claw my throat out. But it also seems to have moved quickly, which is a blessing, at least.
I wish I knew how this had happened, because it's miserable and I don't want it to happen again. I went to the dentist and had some nitrous there, but I've never had any reactions to that before, nor to anything else in their office. I did some shopping, so I suppose I could've picked up something that some germy, icky person had touched. And then there was something I handled in one store that had what I thought was dust on it and I brushed it off, so if that was something other than regular dust, and I touched my nose, I suppose it could be that. The only other thing is that I ate some real licorice yesterday. I've never had any reactions to licorice before, and supposedly it's a natural antihistamine, so it seems odd that it would have the opposite effect.
Whatever it is, it's been a truly nasty experience. So I'm going to go lay back down and try to get some more sleep, since I didn't get much last night.
