It is frustrating. But I also think it's what this culture does to the past, so I don't think Buffy or Joss Whedon had anything to do with it. It would have happened anyway.

The hippie generation got turned into neon tie-dyed shirts, the 50's got turned into funky graphics on t-shirts and furniture, etc. We're just all about merchandising.
