Dude, if you want $700k for an ugly 1970 split just because it's near Microsoft? That thing had better have 5,000 square feet and gold-plated toilets. And no, I don't care that you paid an extra $150k for it three years ago.

That's definitely on the high end, but yeah, I've seen some truly astonishing prices for some truly nasty places. I feel sorry for the suckers who bought them when they were ridiculously overpriced a few years ago, but they really need to be realistic about what the market's really like right now. Location and views and lot size and such will always bring a premium no matter how skanky the house itself, but sometimes, no view is good enough to make up for a kitchen that was last updated in 1986.
