Good news

There's so much ridiculous shit going on in the world, but there are some great things, too, like that lovely smooch at the Tonys, and the same-sex marriage in Ontario thing, and Richard Chamberlain coming out. and this. There was also an aritcle recently in Teen People (of all places) about transgender teens. Woot!

I really feel like the world is starting to change. We have a long way to go, but we're rapidly moving in the right direction. I really feel like maybe my children (should I ever get around to having any) might grow up in a world where homophobia is considered just as nasty as racism. It will still exist, I'm sure, but I think the majority is starting to come around, and that's just wonderful.

Edit: Found a great article about all this.

With the Toronto City Hall being fairly busy (not to mention all the construction going on down on Bay street) we trotted off to the East York Civic Centre (one block away) and filled out the paperwork for the marriage license. We were the only ones there, period! Not even a single person there to pay off a water bill.

The cool clerk was asking us so many questions, not because it was her job, but just that she was as excited as could be at the ruling!

(I, like many others, was listed as the bride, go figure LOL)

We'll likely tie the knot the Friday after this one in the wee chapel there. Hehehe, $53.50 ceremony. Too cool!
