Ok, this could be freaking fantastic. I mean, Gainax with WETA!
However ... given the sheer amount of people out there who *don't* know about Evangelion--much less anime in general--I hope they don't make it a movie just about:
... [A] story of a reluctant young hero, called upon to pilot an immense robotic weapon in battle against hordes of Alien Invaders.
Considering this, and taking into account the fact that the schedule has an "aggressive timetable," it may have many opportunities to screw up royally.
Here's hoping! Hire Peter and Fran! That way we'll get the big robots *and* the relationship of Frodo/Sam ... er ... Shinji/Kaworu!
Hmmm... interesting. I just hope they have a big budget, because they're going to need one to do it right! Well, and good actors, directors, and writers who understand the source material. I'm very curious what they do with it.
I read a little about this on RightStuf & AnimeOnDVD.com...
I agree on all counts. The concept intrigues me, and I certainly wouldn't complain if they got Elijah for any of the roles ::grin::, but I really don't see how they could turn the series into a movie -- it's just too long and involved to be condensed down into a 2 hour live-action flick. I wonder if they're just planning on making Death & Rebirth, instead of condensing the entire series? Curious...

AHahahahha! Yep!
BTW, a little bird told me that Frodo and Sam are going to be just fine in ROTK. Cuddly and all :):):)
Re: *chokes on coffee*
Just finished reading the entire series (sans Silmarillion) *out loud* to my roomie. It was our car book since January.
Are we obsessed? Yup.
