So, I'm home, unexpectedly. I thought I would be covering an event today, but my ed said I could go do an event (for the same thing) last night instead. So I drove all the way out to the middle of nowhere (no cell signal, that's how nowhere) and then came home very late last night. All told, I put in about 12 hours of work yesterday. So I am verreh, verreh tired.
I didn't have a lot to do at work this week--it was mostly spent waiting to hear back from various sources. Some projects didn't work out, though I did get a bunch of new assignments to keep me busy for the rest of the time I'm there.
I haven't been feeling well all week anyway. I've been sleeping hard and congested and bloated and tired. And it's all sort of caught up with me. So I'll probably just spend the weekend resting and cuddling with M.
Added a few new pics to my futzing around page. I really need a better camera. I've had this one for a long time and it's served me well, but I don't have a steady enough arm to keep out the motion blur. So I need something with a faster shutter speed. That and the lens is a little scratched up because the lens cap falls off all the time.
We finally broke down and hired a housekeeper. The house was getting to epically disgusting levels what with us both being gone/tired/slobby. We did a direct contract instead of going through a service. And she's great. She even cleaned the tracks for the windows! Gah!
Technically, we really can't afford the extra expense. We're in debt up to our eyeballs right now what with the school thing. We're running really close to the edge in the checking account, too. But I had to file this under necessities, considering how much of a pit the house was becoming.
The one good financial thing is that our house keeps gaining in value. A house across the street from us--no yard, one fewer garage--sold a few months ago for about $100k more than what we were assessed at last year when we did the refi. This area is really booming, and they're putting in a schmancy new yuppie shopping center up the street, so I'm not surpised, though I am pleased. I hope it means that shortly after I graduate, we can start thinking about buying a chunk of land and building our dream house.
I just hope we can find a buildable lot we can afford. I kind of hate the idea, but we may end up doing one of those buy-and-bulldoze things where we get a great lot with a shitty house and then raze it and build something else. We'll see, I guess. What really matters is that neither of us has a horrid commute and that there's enough space around us that our neighbors can't hear us fucking. That's reason #1 I could never, ever live in-city again. I'm too private to share listening space with my neighbors. I sort of hate living in the boonies because there are so few services and things to do, but it's a trade, and I'd rather have the privacy. I can always invite people out to the house for big weekend parties and stuff. *looks pointedly at local folks* And if we have enough money, we might get a small condo in-city, too, so we can stay there occasional nights when we want to do the downtown thang.
That's all way off, though. First, I have to graduate. Then I spend the summer seeing if I can get preggers. Then I get a job. Where I work has a lot to do with where we move to, of course. I'm hoping to get a job with the Everett Herald (or one of their several community papers) but that might be a little tough. I think my dept. can give me some job hunting assistance, though. I may just freelance for a while, too. So we're looking at probably a year and a half, maybe two years before we even break ground on the place.
Of course, plans may change drastically depending on what happens with the elections this fall. I'm not sure I could stomach living under a Republican-controlled Congress anymore. Bleh.

Personally, I thought they acted like a bunch of shitheads, but was so speachless at the sheer stupidity of it all, I really didn't know what to say.

i just wanted to say that i TOTALLY agree with your post in FTM-in-bed...people should disclose who/what they are long before the akwardness of revealing all in the middle of a shag.
so..
yeah.
that's all i wanted to say.
