Gacked this interesting thing from [livejournal.com profile] sporkninja

-I wear the same brand of socks almost all the time--gold toe anklets with a support band that I get at Target.

-My desk (and by extension, my office) is ALWAYS covered with various things, usually paperwork (mail, bills, magazine) and medication bottles.

-I take five pills every morning at 10 a.m.: concerta, wellbutrin, sudafed, prilosec and tavist. This includes my progesterone regimen when I'm on that. On occasion it includes iron supplements, ginseng or b vitamins.

-I eat Advil by the handful. I take three at a time, usually at least once a day. If I'm on a period, that will often be four, four times a day. I don't like other painkillers, though. Anti-inflammatories are absolutely necessary to deal with my back pain.

-I listen to music when I'm working on my sites or just messing around, but I can't listen to anything when I'm writing. I have to concentrate on exactly what I'm doing, otherwise I get too distracted to string coherent sentences together. That means I shut my door when I'm working on something intense and complex. How I'm ever going to manage writing in a noisy, busy newsroom, I have no idea.

-I can't write cursive. I haven't since grade school. And I only use mechanical pencils. The only thing I use pens for is signing things and if there's nothing else to use.

-I'm constantly covered in cat hair, as is virtually every horizontal surface in my house. I attempt to keep the kitchen clean, but the rest of the house is kind of a lost cause.

It's fun to learn the little things that feel like ideosyncracies to ourselves are shared by others...when I went to take the GRE years ago, they made me copy a page-long declaration about cheating on tests (as if that means anything--how the hell would a person cheat on a test like that anyway? I got a perfect score on the analytical portion, which is all logic problems...it's not like a crib sheet of mathematical formulas would have helped! Besides, anyone who WOULD cheat would not be fazed by a transcription assignment), and they required that I copy it in cursive. This was the first time I had even tried to write in cursive since 6th grade or so, and I had never been fond of it to begin with. I struggled through it, actually uncertain how some of the letters should look, because it's not in my top layer of memories anymore, you know? When I finished, it looked like it would have if I had done it back in third grade, when I was still learning cursive originally. It was huge and uneven, and I was embarrassed to hand it in, but hey, it's not like it would have been better if I tried again. Truthfully, I think it's an unfair thing to ask of someone in that situation, because it hurt my confidence right before I was about to enter a high-pressure test. The first section of the GRE was the verbal, and I scored well on that, but not at my usual level, and considering how astronomical my score was on the second portion, when I'd had time to relax, I think it's a good bet I would have done better without the bogus cursive honor code.

It was fun reading those details about you. ^_^

And now for something completely different...I can't make it to the test review today...would you be willing to send me an email (miss.bardy [at] gmail [dot] com with the information he gives in class today? Mainly, anything about what *specifically* we are going to cover on the test would be nice. (My, that sentence was awkward.)

Thanks, Shawna.

Nope. That's the exam. There's a quiz today. Different things. The quiz is short--about 10 questions. The exam is the 40 question one.

Crap. And if we're late, we can't take the quiz at all. Bugger.
