Well, shit
So, with LJ laying off half its staff, that's putting everyone in a panic. And making it hard to do LJArchive backups.
However! Thanks to my packrat tendencies, I have an already-built archive already. Mostly. I've been doing e-mail comments since I started my journals, and I've never deleted any of those. So any entry I got a comment on is already fully archived in Outlook.
Now to just go back and self-comment on a bunch of entries that didn't have comments...
Truthfully, though, I don't think this is the end of LJ. There are too many users here and it's too active to actually be closed. It'll probably just end up being taken over by a smaller company or turned over to user management (!)
I admit that I'm pissed off, though. They dropped tons of cash into trying to make it a MySpace clone. And then when that failed, they tried to make it a Facebook clone. They should've just left it alone to begin with.
