how's my Latin? )

Am verreh sore today. Most of my apartment is in my car right now, waiting to be taken to B'ham tomorrow. I'm way too tired and achy to do it today. Hauling stuff down stairs kind of messed me up. That and I just want a day to veg. So I'm building this house in Sims 2.

I think that's the house we want to eventually build. It's similar to the winner for the 2003 Street of Dreams, which was done by the same company (the builder has more pics here.)

There are a few mods I would make--putting in a butler's pantry and maybe space for an elevator, getting rid of some of the fireplaces--but otherwise, I love the layout and design. We'd probably turn the loft space into a library/reading room. The two rooms on either side of it would be offices. The bonus room would become a home theater.

Yes, it's going to be expensive to build--although land will be a big chunk. But there's a good chance we could afford it in about two years, especially if we cut some corners on finishing materials and such. Doing only one fireplace will save a lot--masonry is expensive. We're looking at buying the land sometime next year, so we can get a good acre or so before prices go up any more.

Just finally got around to watching "Syriana" today. If you're into political drama, it's excellent. You need a scorecard to keep track of who's who and who's doing what, but it's really very well done. I can see why Clooney won for it (though I still think Jake should have.) I thought Alexander Siddig was very good, too. And, well, he's a hottie, too, so that helps. ;)

Will be making more posts to the new filter on [livejournal.com profile] fanbitch later tonight.
