How lovely to wake up and see that I got the solo I auditioned for. Both of them, actually, in a way! I'm doing two sections of the first, and the entirety of the second, on alternating concert nights. Yay! I absolutely adore Rutter, so I'm really tickled about that.
It's been so long since I've done any serious singing (almost two years), and it feels really good to get back to it.
I'm starting to think that, once I've gotten my degree and have a freelance or stringer job somewhere (probably after an internship) that I'll eventually just settle into a nice little pattern of working about 3/4 time doing articles, and then about 1/4 time doing some performing here and there. I just don't think I could ever completely give up performing. It's been in my blood since I was a wee thing. Besides, if my intent is to cover entertainment, It's wise for me to keep up my own activities in that area. I'll probably make less money than if I were doing more writing, but dammit, this is what I started out doing, and it's only through unfortunate circumstance that I'm not doing it professionally. I think it's kind of like journalism is where my head is, but performing is where my heart is. I can't neglect either of them.
