*headbangs to John Williams*

So I saw Ep III tonight...

...when we were walking out of the theater, a couple of guys behind us were commenting on Anakin's rather gruesome fate at the hands of Obi-Wan, and one said: "If he'd just put the man out of his misery, all the rest of that crap would never have happened!"

Said the other: "Yeah, but at least we got three good movies out of it!"

Sadly, this was probably the most interesting dialogue I'd heard in three hours. George, you're a freaking genius with gadgetry, plots and action scenes, but you can neither write dialogue nor direct actors FOR SHIT.

The good thing was that all the questions got answered, which was as expected, and the thing looked really good. I wish there were a version where you could turn off the dialogue and just have the score and sound fx while you're watching it.

Some highlights:

Yoda/Palpatine. Fucking awesome. Love the little green dude.

Obi-Wan/Grievous light sabre battle. WHOA.

Chewie!!! *pets the walking carpet*

R2!! Dude. Ninja trashcan droid. Awesome.

The big blue iguana. I want one!

Ian McDiarmid is really good at playing an evil bastard.

ILM must've blown their wads on this. Everything else they've done lately has been sub-par, but this was really good, except in a few spots, where the CG stunt doubles weren't behaving as if they had skeletons.

Some lowlights:

Virtually any scene between Hayden and Natalie. Both are quite capable actors. George manages to ruin them somehow. Hey, George? When your composer has to work extra hard to cue the audience to feel something when a line is being said, your work is lousy.

The utter lack of anything to do for Natalie but change costumes and sit around looking all teen mother angsty.

Stupid, stupid cheap jokes with the bots in the opening sequence.

Total lack of C3P0. Meh. They could've cut some of that rancid Anakin/Padme dialogue and given him more to do.

The idiot trailer trash parents that brought their five year old to the theater, who wasn't the least bit interested in the movie, and rather spent his time crawling around the floor and talking loudly to himself, with no interference from his braindead genetic material providers. Bleh.

I'm off for family business this weekend. Will get caught up when I get back.

i felt the same way. i was distracted from her angst because i couldn't help wondering what she did all day to keep from going insane with boredom. it seemed like a rather dull life of sitting around staring. and the fact that she did nothing about the events unfolding? complete BS. the lady was a queen and is supposed to be a senator! she's not a "sit back and watch" type of person.
