So?
Madonna swapped spit with, respectively, the vacuous virgin slut and the vacuous slutty slut.
I'm supposed to be impressed by this?
Whoopty-dafuck-doo.
Oh, wow, chicks who have consistently marketed themselves as eye candy for straight men do something which makes straight men happy.
Yeah, that's revolutionary alright.
How about next year we have Rosie host the thing and smooch her partner on stage for real?
No?
Well, there goes my career as a publicist...

And two men kissing is still played up for laughs. Yay for equality. /sarcasm.

The Queer Eye guys were into it, as far as I could tell.
Maybe you weren't impressed with it because they're eye candy? It was done to shock, not to show how kool lesbokissing is. The opening sequence to the VMAs has historically been the place to introduce the office water-cooler topic of the following week.
Oh, and no lesbian/gay couple or straight couple owes me any PDA. I'd rather not see any gratuitous suckface on television by anyone. (then again, I don't watch TV.)

Right, which is why I'm wondering why people are so thrilled about it. I just don't see why it's any big deal. It's not exactly some big step in gay rights, it's just a couple of chicks kissing to impress an audience. *twirls finger in the air*
An authentic, real kiss between people who have real affection for each other, now that would be newsworthy. But just doing it for headlines? Not impressed.

Why would two people kissing be newsworthy? Maybe it's my Southun Baptist upbringing, but kissing in public so people can see the kissing is unnecessary- het or gay.
Your newsworthy is someone else's shocking, don't you think?

At any rate, my complaint is with people who think that what those girls did is any big advance in our culture. The kiss at the Tonys, however, was cool because it was real, inspired by real emotion between the people involved.
I'm agreeing witcha!

(nodding head) yup
Although..
Innocent lamb that she is, ya know.
And then *surprised* her by kissing open-mouthed live on telly.
Viva La Revolution!...NOT.
(Can't you just SEE all the Beevis and Butthead-types just a-wankin' away? Replaying it over and over? No, eccch. Forget I said that...)

I don't even understand straight men getting turned on by this...I mean, Brit kissing Xtina I could see, but Madonna? Ewwww! That's like kissing your grandma! VERY unsexy.

If you're young yourself, I can understand a personal aversion to someone considerably older (that's as it should be) but don't make blanket statements about it like that. Sexuality is not reserved for 19 year olds with tight asses. :)

But plenty of people enjoy being with older people. Obviously, if someone's still a teenager or something, yeah, that's creepy, but once you're over 20 or so, age is just a number.

And to the person who thinks age difference is icky, ... never say never! ;-)
