So...

Got off to a rather lousy start as I got sidetracked and didn't get out of here until just before 11. Got to campus and drove around the parking lot for 20 freaking minutes until a spot opened up. By that time, I was getting close to 11:30 class time and couldn't wait for the shuttle. So, stupid me, I tried to hoof it all the way up to my building.

Bad idea. Not only did I blow my leg muscles out (I'm still shaky) but I ended up with a minor asthma attack, too. And my inhaler is at the house. I also burned through pretty much every iota of free glucose I had in my system from breakfast, and I'm still light-headed and weak, even after coming back for lunch and just eating something now that I'm home.

So, legs cramping, lungs burning and feeling dizzy, I got into my seat, and managed to focus on my psych class. I like the prof. He's quiet and has a gentle voice and a subtle sense of humor. The class itself is going to kick my ass, but in a good way. It's different than what I've been taking recently--focusing more on hard science than social issues and such--and that's going to make me think in ways I haven't thought in a while. I don't see any math or lab stuff involved, so that's not a problem, but most of the stuff the class covers really comes down to brain anatomy and chemistry. I haven't touched hard sciences in ages--not since Astronomy all the way back in sophomore year (1992ish) so there are a lot of cobwebs to clear. But I think it'll be good for me. I have a pretty healthy knowledge of anatomy and the terminology involved anyway, due to all my research about my various illnesses, so I should be good with that. Lots of quizzes and exams--and if you're late, you can't take the quiz, so I need to get to campus earlier--and a cool workbook--a coloring book for the brain. Sweet. Also pleased to see [livejournal.com profile] onehitwnderbard is in the class. *waves*

Dashed into reporting a few minutes late, but was not the latest one, and my instructor is the same guy I had for news writing last term so we bantered quite a bit. Most of this term's work is going to be covering city council meetings and finding outside stories related to the city. So I get to get up to my ass in B'ham doings. I guess being here 5 days a week is going to be useful (I was trying to come home Weds. nights a lot last term. Not gonna happen now, since I have a T/Th class.) A few familiar faces in the class from last term, including one of the paper's editors and a couple of reporters from last term, which is both reassuring and disturbing.

Also in the class, to my delight and dismay, is a very, very cute baby dyke. *whimper* And she's brilliant, too--she's double majoring in J. and Poli. Sci. Gah.

Will be going out later tonight to see if the accomodation issue is still a-issuing. If so, I will bellyache first thing tomorrow.
