I was a walking ethics violation today. I woke up later than I'd intended to. Got wrapped up in something that I shouldn't have bothered with at all, forgot to make some essential phone calls, got into the shower late. Then discovered that the cat had peed on my jeans that I was going to wear and had to scrounge for a pair that didn't have a broken zipper. I grabbed food, dashed out the door, and started speeding my way north, so I could get to class on time.
Oops.
Got busted. Fortunately, it's my first speeding ticket in ages--something like 8-9 years or something like that--and they were kind enough to knock it down a bit. But then that meant I lost time, plus had to drive more slowly the rest of the way. Then I was going to cheat and park close to the building and hope I wouldn't get a parking ticket. No luck. The campus police were IN that parking lot when I got there. So I went back to the main lot, parked as close as I could, and hoofed it, since there was no point in waiting for the shuttle.
I was 10 minutes late to class.
After class, I got back to the bachelor pad, got my bearings and then headed out again to go find a cafe or something for research for my reporting class. Well, the place I intended to go was dead, so it was useless. I scrounged for other places, and nada. So I got in the car and drove up to the mall, thinking the food court might be a good alternative. No luck there, since the acoustics were bad enough that I couldn't do my official eavesdropping like I'm supposed to. I'm going to give it one more go tomorrow morning, but if I can't, then that means I'll be late on an assignment.
Oh, and the upshot of all this scrambling is that I didn't get a chance to read my next Biopsych chapter before class tomorrow.
And the thing making it all the more frustrating is that it's M and my anniversary today (9 years married) and we haven't seen each other all day. Bleh.
Can I call a do-over on this day?
