Pimping my crib

...or however the cool kids are saying it these days.

Was just talking to [livejournal.com profile] havdrake about furniture and that reminded me I hadn't posted these.

Shawna's Tricked Out Sleazy Bachelor Pad

I woke up at six this morning to go interview people in Xbox lines. Good god. Some of those people are craaaaazeeee. They'd been out there since yesterday and it was freezing last night. Dang. That's some dedication.

The new icon is a pic I took of my building (or at least the one I have most of my classes in) in the fog that was creeping over campus yesterday afternoon. It looked really cool.

Food. Write. Nap. Then home for the holiday week. Where there will be more food, writing and napping. Only with added cat hair and cuddles from M and the kids. Which will make all of the food, writing and napping more enjoyable. Well, maybe not the food so much with the cat hair.

Oh, and I know you're reading this, Mom. Happy 60th birthday, ya old bat. Behave y'self so I don't have to ground you until you're 70. ;)

Wow! That's actually just about the swankiest student apartment I've ever seen!

No, really... it looks like you found a great place!

You know, I'd really like to have an Xbox 360, but it's not something I'd be willing to wait out in the cold rain for two days in order to get. Especially since some of these places weren't going to be getting very many in the first place.

There are definite advantages to being a post-bac. Mmmhmm. It's quite small, though. Only a full bed would fit in the bedroom, and the kitchen is downright cramped. But I like it.

Yeah. I only do that for things that aren't going to become available again in the future. Shows, movie premieres, that sort of thing. I can't imagine doing it for a retail item unless it was some sort of limited-edition something or other.

Hey that's not sleazy, it's rather upscale IMHO. It looks really sleek and functional. I like the kitchen the most. Very nice colors through out; I'm not a big fan of green, but the shades of green you have are really nice.

Do you get to take all that back with you to Microsoft land?

[identity profile] textualdeviance.livejournal.com 2005-11-23 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
It's sleazy in that "Shawna's turning into a yuppie" sort of way. ;)

I'm a major green fan, so I like the palette in this place. It has a very coniferous forest floor sort of feel to it.

I think when I've finished up here, we'll pack this stuff into a storage unit until we're ready to move next time. Which, if I get a good job, might be fairly soon after. We're planning to build our next place, so we're going to get an apartment for the ~year it'll take to do that, so we can have plenty of time to do whatever fixing needs to be done on the old place and get it sold. This furniture would work fine for that eventuality.

Wow, that apartment looks really nice!

And apparently Elwood and his brother were among the crazy dedicated people last night. :)

[identity profile] textualdeviance.livejournal.com 2005-11-23 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I heard that! I thought--how odd. Didn't he get one for hosting the launch? Or maybe his appearance was part of the plan.

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2005-11-23 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't seem to have been publicized until after the fact though. Yeah but that is odd, that he didn't get one. Hey maybe this one was for his brother? ;)

Looks cute and cozy! And very neat and clean!

[identity profile] textualdeviance.livejournal.com 2005-11-23 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Deceptively neat and clean. I'm usually the Queen of Slobovia. Although I've kept this place up fairly well. It's not so hard when it's 1/4 the size of my usual house and only has one person's dirty dishes and laundry. And no cats. That changes everything. Love them, but they're little filthy messes waiting to happen.

[identity profile] lilithlotr.livejournal.com 2005-11-23 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
ah, how I envy that lack of clutter

[identity profile] textualdeviance.livejournal.com 2005-11-23 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
This is why I didn't bring over anything from the house except clothes. I wanted to start fresh, and not with my already-existing piles of cat-hair inundated junk. ;)

Hey, very cool crib! Would love a flat like that! :)
