Rant of the day

Dammit, why is Nutrasweet being replaced with Splenda everywhere? I can't say as I'm the world's biggest fan of the Monsanto corp, but Splenda does a really nasty number on my insides.

Thank the Atkins diet. Aspartame is supposed to stimulate insulin response the same way that sugar does, so Atkins people will not drink anything made with aspartame, but acesulfame and sucralose are OK for that diet.

I meant to say saccharin, not sucralose.

Oh no - not pink death and blue death!!! Stop taking that stuff right now. Yuck. And forget Splenda, tastes like caca. Switch to xylitol. It helps prevent tooth decay, some research even suggests it might help prevent sinus and ear infections in children and it tastes almost like sugar. It is actually good for you! (Note: there are a few side effects, like diarrhea from excessive intake. Also, make sure the brand you buy is NOT made from waste wood products. Educate yourself at: http://www.xylitol.org/) The brand I like is Perfect Sweet (http://www.jarrow.com/products/MiracleSweet.htm).
