Argh

Reason #315 I hate living in this shithole:

Noisy, drunk neighbors. They've had parties at least three times this week, including leaving cigarette butts and an empty beer can on the stairs. And now they're congregating right outside my door and banging around.

I'm too chicken shit to ask them to stfu. They don't have any consideration for neighbors now, and that usually means people who will take it as a personal affront to be asked to have some. Don't need retaliation, thanks.

Note to everyone who lives in an apartment: quiet hours are ALWAYS at least 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., 11 p.m. on weekends. If you are making noise outside of those hours, DON'T. And in fact, try to keep it down before 8 and after 9, as plenty of people have offset schedules.

Apartments are communal living. If you're not willing to accomodate the reasonable needs of your neighbors, go buy a trailer out in the middle of nowhere. Don't inflict your drunken, hollering ass on other people.

I feel with you. My neighbours had a party about once a week (and the walls were so thin it was possible to listen to a standard conversation, so I won't tell you what it's like having a party next door). But that wasn't the worst. They had loud, bedspring-creaking sex at least three times a day. (Yes, I could hear the bedsprings.) And that girl had a very high and girly voice.

I'm so glad I moved out of there. All-girls student housing may have its disadvantages, but at least it's possible to study in peace. And my room is finally big enough to turn around in!

I'm a screamer and I listen to loud movies. I never realize how much noise I'm making. I usually make an effort to get to know my neighbors just so that I can tell them to please tell me to shut up if I'm bugging them. This building must have awesome noise insulation though, because I didn't realize until last week that there's a baby living next door (I saw him coming home in a stroller). Otherwise I would never have known, there was no noise.

It always bothers me when I hear friends whining about people not bothering to ask them nicely to be quiet at, like 1AM. Folks, you should NOT need to be asked - and I say that as someone who is normally up until about 5AM. And if the cops get called on you with no warning - well, duh.
