Sabbatical Day.... something

So yours truly, with considerable help, spent most of Wednesday getting the house in order for the appraiser. I think this is probably the cleanest the house has been in years. I still have dozens of projects left to do, but at least the cleaning part is mostly done. The rest is just organization-- weeding out closets, buying new furniture, etc.-- and finishing the planting for the back yard.

The appraisal appointment seemed to go well. The guy was thorough, silent and pleasant. Hopefully we'll get a good number. There's a house in the development across the street which is listed at the number that we estimated for the value, but we have dozens more features than it does, including the a/c that just got installed this week.

Doing some errands today and then packing up for our vacation. Off to the Canadian Rockies for a week. Probably won't be in much contact until the week after. Ta!

I wonder if your appraiser was one of my company's members? Not that I'd probably know him, anyway. We just had our midyear conference in Seattle, though.

I dunno what company he was from. He was a lot more thorough than the last one, which kind of surprised me.

Actually, my company is The Appraisal Institute, so if he was an MAI or an SRA, he's definitely one of our members. Might still be an associate member if he's undesignated, but quite possibly not.

It's amazing that some appraisers (and our members in particular, since they're old-fashioned) still try to work by their own standards, rather than by the ever-diminishing bank requirements.
