State of the Texty: Slug Edition

I just realized that I haven't left the house since last Sunday. Haven't even gone outside. Haven't even gone into the garage!

At least I've put pants on.

Something tells me that this whole sabbatical thing must've been really, really needed if I'm cocooning this much in just the first week. I'm sure I'll surface again soon, but I think part of me just really needed to dig in: Read, write, catch up on TV backlog, etc. No real demands on my time and mental bandwidth except the ones I set myself.

Also think I probably needed some quiet navel-gazing time, too. Feeling somewhat better on that count after a nice convo with M last night.

Rather enjoying the new writing gig. Taking me a couple of hours each day to decide what to write about and then actually do it and upload the piece. It's a good way to have a regular "thing" I do to keep some sort of structure to my day. It's also been good practice--writing on a deadline like that makes me a lot sharper and a lot more careful about getting it right the first time, since I don't have the luxury of long editing passes. If I ever got back to doing a daily news beat or something, I'd be in much better shape for it now than I may have been without scraping off the rust like this, first.

Taking a couple of days' breather from the fandom thing. Still observing, not participating as much. May have a bit more navel-gazing to do before I go back in.
