Hallelujah

So, in trying to deal with that question of what to do about my classes, I discovered something I'd overlooked before: apparently WWU has a journalism major! I'd only looked at their communications major, and didn't see a journalism concentration there, so I thought they didn't have it. Turns out that there's an entirely separate department there for it. Woot!

Even better: Post-bac admissions there aren't quite as tight as they are at UW, and the deadlne is April 1st.

Better still: It's closer than any other college I could go to. Only about an hour and a half away. If I plan my year right, I can probably manage to take only tuesday/thursday courses, and just live up there for three days a week and come back home the rest of the time. If I had to, I could even commute.

Even mo' betta: They have a pre-major declaration, where you can take some of the early courses in the major before being formally admitted. Woot!

So it looks like I have a very viable option if I can't get into UW for some reason. Phew. The one downside, however, is that virtually everywhere I've looked, there is some sort of math requirement. Fuckity. So I'm starting to suspect that what I need to do next term is take a basic math for people who failed high school algebra course to get ready. Bleh. Double bleh. Triple bleh with a shot of feh. Good thing I have a tutor in the house.

That sucks about the math. I'm terrible at math and would likely have to do the same thing. (I seem to recall being told I'd need to take a non-credit course just to satisfy a pre-req for a class when I did my first and only year at the U of MN.)

On the bright side, it sounds like you have more than one option available to you and that's always a good thing!

I'm going up to WWU next quarter.
